Learning Game on the Internet:
Operation and Enrichment of Content

AIMS
This project aims comprise of the running of the Educational Game lysis on the Internet, the gradual extension of its use (mainly by pupils aged 10-15), the parallel enrichment of its content (through the addition of new game levels and new ‘riddles’), and finally the evaluation of its contribution to the players’ fund of knowledge.

DESCRIPTION – OUTCOMES
An educational entertainment application entitled lysis - a role playing game in which a number of players participate simultaneously on the web was developed on four ‘levels’ using riddles. It was designed with the aim of:

>> • Giving pupils the opportunity to cultivate key creative abilities, critical thought, initiative, and co-operation.
>> • Bringing them into contact with specific areas of knowledge and, in particular, the development of Scientific thought and European culture.

In Phase 2, the second 12 month period of the Protovoulia, the game will be offered to an ever-increasing number of players. The game is installed on a system of high-grade servers with sufficient band width so that the simultaneous participation of around 200 players may be supported reliably. Potential synergies regarding the distribution and educational evaluation of the use of the game have to be sought through the parallel Action II of Phase 2 of Protovoulia, which aims to improve access to web-based learning material for the educational community.
